Gerard Logan: The Rape of Lucrece by William Shakespeare

Gerard Logan: The Rape of Lucrece by William Shakespeare

Friday 23rd April at 8pm

A brilliant, brutal narrative poem giving an account of the terrible crime of rape and its dreadful consequences for victim and perpetrator.  As ever, though, Shakespeare goes beyond the obvious, following the ramifications of the crime wherever they
take him, shining a light on human behaviour.
“……..If you love poetry, Shakespeare, or just a good story brilliantly
told don’t miss this show. You will rarely have the chance to experience
great poetry brought to life this well. Faultlessly performed by Gerard Logan,
in the pure spirit-filled voice of a master, this performance is one the Royal
Shakespeare Company could be proud of having produced…”
***** Fringe Review (Edinburgh 2008)

Tickets £10 / £8 under 16s Optional pre theatre supper £12

The Merchant of Venice

The Merchant of Venice

Sunday 4th July

Perhaps the most debated of Shakespeare’s plays and one which introduces us to some of his most memorable characters, Shylock and Portia, as their personal dramas unfold alongside an unforgettable exploration of what it means to be persecuted and to be a persecutor.  Truth, justice, revenge, honour; all come under the microscope in this beautifully crafted and costumed performance accompanied by the music of Mozart.
Please note that the performance is scheduled to take place inside the theatre or outside in the gardens according to prevailing weather conditions so please check with us on the day.  Bring a picnic to eat either outside or inside during the interval.

Tickets £12 / under 16s £10
