Welcome to Bowhill

A warm welcome to the Bowhill website; we hope it gives you a taste of the many attractions on offer.

Bowhill sits at the heart of this beautiful estate in the Scottish Borders where the countryside has been managed by the Buccleuch family for successive generations.

Looking for a great day out?  The estate has plenty to offer visitors of all ages.  From its exciting woodland adventure playground and ranger led wildlife walks to the cosy 72 seat theatre and renowned tea room there is lots to see and do.

If you love outdoor pursuits or even fancy trying something new there is lots to choose from.  Walking, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing and shooting are just some of the activities we offer.

For those of you looking for less energetic attractions, Bowhill's historic house is home to one of the best collections of art and fine furniture in Europe and its landscaped gardens and ancient woodland help history come alive.

Opening Times

Bowhill House is open from the 28th June - 31st July 2008. 11am - 5pm daily. The last guided tour being 4.pm. Outwith this period the house is open by appointment only.

Bowhill House is open from the 1st - 31st August 2008, daily.  Guided tours will take place at 1pm and 3pm.

Bowhill Country Park will be open over Easter Weekend 22-24th March and also between 29th March-13th April. Weekends and bank holidays through May & June, and daily in July and August. 10am-5pm.
Outwith this period the countrypark is open for access only and all visitor facilities are closed. For more information please see our visitor information.
