Buccleuch Sporting
Buccleuch Sporting offers clients from all over the world the opportunity to enjoy some of the best countryside pursuits in the UK.
The pheasant shoot at Bowhill is of the highest quality and has some notable drives, such as Black Andrew in the Yarrow Valley. The grouse moor has tremendous potential and rivals that of the Queensberry Moors. The fishing on the rivers Ettrick and Yarrow has some excellent pools and runs.
Boughton, one of Northamptonshire's premier Sporting Estates, has a history of delivering quality sport whilst maintaining conservation. The traditional partridge shooting presents extremely exciting birds over the tall hedgerows. Couple that with the vast network of game and conservation crops and you have some great drives. The traditional woodland drives are spectacular, in particular, Geddington Chase. The River Ise that runs through the centre of the Estate boasts Grayling and wild Brown Trout and is now famous for the quality of coarse fish (in particular the Roach).
The driven partridge at Drumlanrig has been voted the best in Britain. Grouse on the tops of the 2000ft heather covered Lowther Hills and the driven pheasant in the woodlands surrounding the 17th century Drumlanrig Castle are attractions in themselves.
Combined with the challenging fishing waters of the Border Esk at Langholm and the serene tranquility of the Bowhill Lochs, Buccleuch Sporting deliver a professional service to customers of all abilities and interests.
With a long tradition of practical conservation the Buccleuch Sporting team play a vital role in the successful establishment of vulnerable farm crops and young trees, which would otherwise be seriously damaged by rabbits, deer and grey squirrels. They help to protect the balance of nature and reduce the predation of foxes and crows, not only against game birds and other wildlife all the year round, but also against young lambs in the spring.
