The Buccleuch Country Ride

Multi-user trails

The Buccleuch Country Ride is a fantastic long distance route for competent riders who are looking to sample the beautiful Borders scenery.   The ride covers 57 miles in total going across the scenic Cheviot and Lammermuir hills, and is the first of its kind in Scotland.

The ride can be done as a whole over 3 or 4 days, or can be divided up into 7 smaller routes.  The routes are all marked with a white horseshoe symbol on a blue background.  Details of the route can be found in the Buccleuch Country Ride pack, which contains details of places to stay,  if you want to make a holiday of it, as well as pocket sized maps of each stage of the ride.  This pack can be obtained online from Nicolson Maps if you click on the link above.

The Buccleuch Country Ride covers many areas outwith Buccleuch Estates ownership. Please note that we advise you to contact Bowhill Estate office, 01750 20753 if you are planning to do any of the routes during the winter months, as the routes do cross ground that is used for shooting and other activities.
